Privacy Policy

How Make.CV handles information when you visit the website and create a CV.

Last updated:

1. About this policy

This policy describes how the team operating Make.CV (“we” or “us”) collects and uses information through make.cv. For privacy questions or requests, contact team@yez.llc. Our Terms of Service describe the rules for using the website.

2. Information we handle

  • Account information. When you sign in, our authentication provider, Clerk, handles your sign-in session. We receive account details such as your name, email address, and account identifier.
  • CV content. Information you enter may include your name, contact details, professional summary, work experience, education, skills, and links. We also handle your selected template and save timestamps.
  • Usage and technical information. Our website and service providers may process IP addresses, browser and device details, pages visited, referral information, interactions, error reports, and session recordings, as described below.
  • Communications. If you contact us, we receive your email address and the information you include in your message.

Please include only information needed for your CV. Avoid entering government identification numbers, financial account details, health information, or other sensitive information. Only include someone else's details with permission.

3. Local drafts and saved CVs

When you use the builder without signing in, your draft is stored in your browser's local storage so it can survive a refresh or sign-in. Anyone with access to that browser profile may be able to access the draft. Clearing this site's browser data removes the local copy.

When you sign in, your CV content and template selection can be saved automatically to our database and associated with your account. PDF generation takes place in your browser. Local PDF generation does not mean all website activity stays on your device: account storage, analytics, diagnostics, and advertising involve the services described in this policy.

Signing out or clearing browser storage does not delete CV data already saved to your account. Contact us to request deletion of that data. Downloaded PDFs remain on your device until you delete them yourself.

4. How we use information

We use information to authenticate users, create and save CVs, restore progress, provide downloads, respond to requests, keep the Service secure, investigate errors, understand feature usage, and support the website through advertising and affiliate referrals.

Where applicable data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on providing the Service you request, legitimate interests such as security and service improvement, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where required for optional tracking or advertising. You can contact us about the basis for a particular use of your information.

5. Service providers, analytics, and diagnostics

We use hosting and database infrastructure and the following services to operate and understand the website. Providers receive information relevant to their functions and may process it under their own privacy terms.

  • Clerk provides sign-in and account authentication, including session cookies. See the Clerk Privacy Policy.
  • Plausible Analytics, served from our analytics domain, measures visits and events such as sign-ins, template choices, and downloads. See Plausible's data policy for how its analytics works.
  • Microsoft Clarity collects interaction and usage data through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replays to help us understand and improve the website. It uses cookies and similar technologies. Microsoft may also use this data for its own purposes, including advertising, as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
  • Sentry helps us investigate errors and performance issues. It can collect diagnostic events, request and device information, IP addresses, and sampled session replays. See the Sentry Privacy Policy.
  • Cloudflare supports website delivery and security, including abuse-prevention technology. It may process connection, device, and request information. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

Information may also be disclosed where legally required, to address fraud or security incidents, or to protect legal rights. If the Service changes ownership, relevant data may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to applicable protections and notice requirements.

6. Advertising and affiliate links

We use Google AdSense. Google and other advertising partners may use cookies to serve and measure advertisements based on your visits to this website and other websites. They may also use web beacons, IP addresses, and similar technologies in connection with ad delivery.

Learn how Google uses information from partner sites in Google's partner-site privacy information. You can manage or opt out of Google's personalized advertising through My Ad Center, and explore participating providers' opt-out options at YourAdChoices. These settings do not remove all advertisements.

If you follow an affiliate link, such as a job-search offer, the destination and its referral partners may receive click and referral information and use their own cookies. Their privacy policies govern activity on their services.

7. Cookies and your browser choices

Browser storage is used for drafts, authentication, security, analytics, and advertising. You can delete site data and manage cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some storage may affect sign-in or saved drafts. Advertising choices may need to be set separately for each browser or device.

Clearing local storage removes an unsaved local draft, so download a copy first if you want to keep it. To manage data held by Make.CV rather than on your device, contact us using the address below.

8. Retention, security, and international processing

We retain account and saved CV information to provide your account and saved-document features. Retention also depends on deletion requests, operational needs, security, and legal obligations. Diagnostics, analytics, and provider records follow the relevant service settings and retention practices. Contact us about retention of your particular information.

We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect information, but no online service or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Our infrastructure and providers may process data in countries other than where you live, with different data protection laws. Where legally required, international transfers must use appropriate safeguards; contact us for details about your data.

9. Your rights and requests

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent where processing relies on it; or opt out of certain advertising-related sharing. These rights can be subject to legal exceptions. You may also be able to complain to your local data protection authority.

You can edit your CV in the builder. For other requests, including account or saved CV deletion, email team@yez.llc from the address associated with your account where possible. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Please do not send passwords or unnecessary sensitive information.

10. Children's privacy

Make.CV is intended for people preparing job applications and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Service, contact us so we can review and address it.

11. Policy updates and contact

We may update this policy as the Service or its data practices change. The latest version and its update date will appear on this page. Where required, we will provide additional notice of material changes.

Contact the Make.CV team at team@yez.llc about this policy or your personal information.
